Only students who have completed the traditional first year of a Juris Doctor program at a law school recognized by the American Bar Association may apply for a transfer. Credits earned in a Master of Laws program do not count towards a Juris Doctor degree from UC Davis Law School. All Early Rulings Program applicants will receive a decision by November 30. Candidates may be accepted, rejected, placed on the waiting list or selected for review as part of the general application process. Applications that are selected and admitted for examination under the general application procedure do not constitute a binding obligation to register. All requests for advance rulings will be assessed according to the same criteria used for the general admission process. Approval is very competitive. We are starting to accept applications for admission to the J.D. Fall on September 1st via the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) online application page and there is no application fee. Students are only admitted for the autumn semester. UC Davis School of Law offers only a three-year full-time program.

There is no part-time, evening or summer program. We invite applicants who have researched their law school options and determined that UC Davis School of Law is their first choice to apply under our mandatory early decision program. The application process is identical to the standard JD application, but applicants must submit their application by November 1 (all application documents, including all LSAT or GRE results, must be received by November 22). Please note that by submitting an application, an applicant agrees to enroll in King Hall if admitted to this program. There is no registration fee for transfer or guest student registration. Applicants who achieve high academic results in the fall semester may be offered admission before completing the first full year of law school. These offers of admission are subject to completion of the first year in the top third of the class or the Faculty of Law reserves the right to reconsider the offer of admission. A foreign credential assessment is conducted and submitted to the Faculty of Law as part of the CAS report. An English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) test and it is mandatory for all applicants who were trained outside the United States and for whom English was not the primary language of instruction for their program of study (bachelor`s or master`s program), whether or not the institution is located outside the United States. Contact the Educational Testing Service (ETS), to request that your TOEFL score be sent to LSAC. The LSAC TOEFL code for CAS is 8395.

U.S. applicants must have completed at least seven years of residential education at accredited colleges and law schools and hold a professional degree from a law school approved by the American Bar Association. While not mandatory, we encourage applicants to submit an updated resume and personal statement. Applicants for admission to the Faculty of Law`s professional program leading to the degree of Juris Doctor must provide evidence of sufficient quality to qualify for the study of law. A bachelor`s degree or equivalent from a recognized college or university must have been obtained before the applicant begins working at the school. According to the ABA 509(d) standard for admission to law school, all enrolled students must submit an official transcript by October 15 indicating the price and date of award of a bachelor`s degree. Failure to submit an official transcript may result in exmatriculation. Unenrolled students may still be responsible for all tuition and fees incurred to date. Successful applicants must immediately withdraw their application from all other institutions, reject open offers of admission and make a deposit of $500 by January 3.
