Am I wrong? #cyberlaw #digitalforensics #cybersecurity Thank you Benjamin Wright for your excellent presentation and examples of how the use of absolute statements can come back and bite us. Thank you to everyone who attended the live session. The best conclusion – #Cybersecurity board should have a weight comparable to that of a legal advisor. The recorded session can be found via the link below. Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. SANS Institute was established in 1989 as a cooperative research and education organization. I`m excited about the myriad of new ways to reconcile electronic contracting and legal terms. Look at all the legal terms and clues that people agree with in virtual reality and the crypto world. See below a screenshot of the Oculus VR platform showing a legal warning. By continuing the warning, the user agrees to assume the risk of injury or damage. It`s like a risk sign next to a pond.

In a crypto project called Beanstalk, a smart player recently applied legal conditions to get away with a fortune of $182 million. Beanstalk`s assets were held in a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). Control of the DAO depended on the votes of participants who had contributed crypto assets to the DAO. The intelligent actor didn`t break anything. The actor did not exceed his authority and did not act without authorization. The actor simply treated the terms of the DAO in a way that others did not expect. The actor took out a huge very short-term loan to bring enough cryptocurrency to the DAO so that the actor immediately takes control of the DAO. The actor voted to send the DAO assets to the actor. The actor repaid the loan while keeping a profit of $76 million. Everything the actor did was consistent with the code written in the Beanstalk DAO.

See „Crypto Thieves Get Braver, Steal Record Amounts,“ Wall Street Journal 4/22/22. The code was there in broad daylight. In fact, the DAO software specified the legal terms, or „smart contract,“ under which participants had contacted each other. But only one of them, the intelligent actor, understood the terms, and that person applied them in an intelligent way that did not involve material lying. Jiminy Cricket! My point is not just VR or blockchain. We now live in rapidly changing online worlds. The rules flash here and are agreed there. It looks like a game instead of signing a complicated 100-page contract on paper. When people sign a big paper contract, they realize emotionally that they have to slow down and be careful about what they`re doing. Cybernetic terms, on the other hand, do not have the same emotional impact, although they can be just as effective legally.
