The Maryland Department of Unemployment Insurance reviews the documents you upload and determines your eligibility for PUA benefits. You may receive correspondence through your BEACON portal and through the U.S. Postal Service, depending on your preferred method of communication. Please send us at least one of these current documents: • Your state or federal employer identification number. • Your commercial license. • Your business tax return. • All official business documents with proof of self-employment. • Declaration signed by someone who can verify your independence. The declaration must include the name and contact information of the person. To certify federal pandemic unemployment benefits (PUA) each week, you must choose the reason why your job is affected by the coronavirus.

You can select several options. **iPhone/Mac users – Please use Chrome, Firefox or Edge browsers to perform this process. Users have struggled to upload the required documents through the Safari browser.** The Continuous Support Act of 2020 requires people who received PUA benefits on or after 12/27/2020 to provide proof of employment/self-employment or a valid offer to accept employment with proof of pay. The deadline to upload the evidence to your My UI portal is 21/08/06. NEW CERTIFIERS: If you have received a notification that your claim is due, check our calendar page before confirming. Each week, the day and hours of certification are staggered by Social Security Number (SSN). The day and time assigned to your SSN may change, so check the schedule page each week. Your username is the email address you used to make your complaint. If you have forgotten your password, use the „Forgot your password?“ option on the login page. Instructions on how to reset your password will be sent to the email address we have registered. You will be asked when you started working for each employer (or when your expected start date was) and when your last day of work was before the pandemic.

The Continuing Assistance Act, 2020 requires individuals who received Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (AUP) benefits on or after December 27, 2020 to provide proof of employment or self-employment or a valid offer to hold employment and proof of wages. While PUA applicants previously only had to provide proof of salary, this new federal requirement to provide proof of employment documentation is a fraud prevention measure. Unlike the proof of income requirement used to determine an applicant`s WBA, proof of employment documentation proving employment or self-employment does not have to cover the entire period during which a person worked. You may also be contacted to discuss questions regarding your proof of employment. Please ensure that the telephone number, email address and/or physical address you have provided to us through your BEACON portal is accurate and up-to-date. All correspondence is also immediately available through your BEACON portal. If you would like to receive email or SMS notifications when you have correspondence or actions to take on your portal, you can update your communication preferences in your BEACON portal. If you fail to provide your documents to establish your employment, self-employment or planned commencement of employment or self-employment prior to the COVID-19 pandemic within 90 days of NYS DOL`s notice, you will receive a decision that may be appealed. As a result of this finding, you are not entitled to puA benefits for the entire period of your entitlement. You will also be overpaid for any benefits paid to you as of December 27, 2020 and you will be responsible for returning this overpayment to NYS DOL. These documents must include: • The name of the company. • The date on which the work is to begin.

• The date on which the work must be completed if it has an end date. • An explanation of the type of work you would have done. • How much you would have been paid. • Name, title and contact information of the person who offered you the position or who can review the offer. Step 3: You will be redirected to the document upload page. Upload your document(s) proving proof of income or an official job offer. Congress extended the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Program (PUA) on December 27, 2020 through the Continuing Assistance to Unemployed Workers Act. Under this new law, PUA applicants must provide proof of employment in order to be eligible for the federal program. While AUP applicants were previously required to provide proof of income to determine the amount of their weekly benefit (WBA), this new requirement to provide proof of employment documentation is a fraud prevention measure.

Proof of self-employment includes, but is not limited to, the 2019 and 2020 IRS Form 1040 and a copy of Schedule C, Schedule F or schedule SE tax return, as applicable, the 2019 and 2020 state income tax return, 1099 documentation, state or federal employer identification numbers, business licenses, service contracts, corporate receipts/invoices, sales documents and invoices. We cannot verify your application without proof of attachment to the labour market before the pandemic. Without this verification, you will be deprived of benefits and you will have to repay all the benefits you have received since December 27, 2020 because of this right. Please note that even if you submitted the same documentation in response to the original measure element of the proof of income, you will need to upload the document back to your BEACON portal to meet both the „Proof of Employment“ measure and the federal program requirements. If you have been offered a job but have not been able to work due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you can submit the following documents to prove pending employment: If it is determined that a candidate will receive AUP benefits, they cannot be paid for a week ending after June 26, 2021, end date of the Georgia AUP programme. If the department determines that the documents you submit are sufficient to prove your employment or self-employment (or the expected commencement of employment or self-employment), you continue to meet all eligibility requirements of the PUA program and the Maryland Unemployment Insurance Act, and submit weekly certificates of eligibility in a timely manner, you will continue to receive your PUA benefits as usual. The AUP program was in effect from February 2, 2020 to June 26, 2021. PuA applicants must meet this federal requirement even if they returned to work, were no longer eligible for AUP benefits, did not receive AUP benefits when the AUP program ended, or no longer receive AUP benefits because the program ended. Acceptable documents to prove your employment include: Some answers to some questions delay payment. Check for which week you get certification – PUA claims are only valid for weeks prior to 4.9. Please use the certification question guidelines for weeks prior to 9/21/04 to get an appropriate response to avoid delaying your payment. What documents constitute acceptable proof of employment and salary? The GDOL has modified its current online unemployment application and added new questions to better identify people who may be eligible for the APU.
